It's Spring Break in 1955!
See what the Fifties Chix do for fun on their vacation...
In 1955, Americans felt a sense of hope and promise, having come out of a second world war and the Great Depression. Their cars came to be symbol of freedom, adventure and leisure. Coincidentally, one of the things President Eisenhower was known for was the US Interstate system, creating freeways coast to coast. Americans spent hours and hours in their cars on road trips and going to drive-in movies. At the drive-in, families could take their children in their pajamas and teenagers could go on dates and have privacy or meet up with other kids. If you were one of the Fifties Chix in 1955, how do you imagine you would spend your spring break? Would you head for the beach or stay home and go to the movies every night?
